Voyage Terminated After Death of Elderly Lady Abandoned on Remote Island

An extensive 60-day journey circling the Land Down Under is being halted following the death of an elderly female passenger who was stranded by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with other travelers from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The ship departed without her and came back later that day after the crew became aware the woman was not present.

A large-scale rescue mission discovered her body the subsequent day.

Officials are looking into the incident, alongside investigators and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that travelers and personnel on the ship were told that the continuation of the cruise had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and previous engine troubles".

In a statement, he further stated that guests would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the individuals via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also issued an revised communication, and said they had "issued a order to the Captain" preventing any new passengers from entering the vessel.

Via official communication, the CEO verified that the operator was "working closely with investigators to assist their inquiry".

He said that the organization was "very regretful that this has occurred" and had provided its total backing to the family.
